6th Grade Year Long Learning Objectives
Albert Einstein Academy is a STEAM school that provides an educational experience where students approach learning through real-world, problem-based activities. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are the standards which will be followed throughout the curricular year. These standards have already been adopted by four states, with the expectation that California will be adopting by November of 2013. NGSS are based on the Framework for K-12 Education developed by the National Research Council and are rich in content and practice. The sixth grade students will have specific areas of scientific focus, in which they will conduct in-depth inquiries and investigations. The science disciplines that will be covered in the 6th grade are: Earth’s Systems, Earth and Human Activity, Molecules to Organisms, Heredity, Energy and Engineering Design.
